On July 30th at 1:17 am, two thieves--one male, one female--broke into Common Good Books through Nina's Coffee Cafe. They stole our safe and damaged our cash registers. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
If anyone saw anything or knows these individuals, we ask you to please contact the Saint Paul Police Department at (651) 291-1111. If any neighborhood resident wants to see the surveillance video in full, please contact the store.

You sure it's just a goatee, not a full beard?
Because of the quality of the video, I would not rule out a full beard, but to me it looked more like a goatee.
It's Louise Erdrich in disguise.
To me it looks like the guy is looking right at the camera. Is it hidden or in plain sight? Could it be an inside job? Employee? Former employee? Friend or relative of such? Customer who has recently visited (maybe more than once)? I hope you catch the criminals and bring them to justice.
"Untouched were the books, including autographed copies of Keillor's own "Pontoon" and "Liberty," and local author Julie Kramer's "Missing Mark." Sounds to me like we're looking for a burglar with taste.
Sorry to hear about your bad publicity.
For other retailers reading this, one should remove the money tills from each register at night and leave the register drawers open.
I can hardly believe anyone would leave the till full of cash overnight. Bizarre. I have worked for a lot of different businesses over the years, and even the very worst of them -think Taco John's- never did anything as stupid as that.
Live Local, Read Large, Leave Three Grand in the Till.
I say this was an inside job.....yet how much money could this place actually transact in one day??? Its a snoozer of a joint eh?
3 grand thats a whole months profit! eh????
Its not a full beard..
